"Head, Shoulder, Toe, Knee, Human Body! There wasn't a single part of me that didn't love your po-et-ry! Thanks for coming!"
Jo and Charley's visit to our 5th and 6th grader Writer's Workshop was full of fun, energy, learning, encouragement, and writing. The information presented motivated our students to eagerly engage in new writing forms. One of the boys summed the day up for the group: "I never thought I could be a writer but now I know I am a writer." We are very grateful for your visit!
“I went to the wordplay session at the conference and enjoyed it very much. The presenters, Charley and Joanele Hoce, were very entertaining. They gave us a great resource list, with children's picture books that model different types of figurative language.”
"Charley is student centered and high energy. He was so engaging during his school visit students couldn't wait to come back for our family night event! He alone increased our family night event attendance by 25% because students went home and told parents they had to come back and hear some more from him. Awesome author visit!"
"The ideas for keeping a journal and how to write when a student cannot think of anything to write about will be used when I teach students about writing. We all need encouragement to be great writers and Charley has a wonderful source of encouragement for our students."
“I’ve never seen an author with so much energy!...Your poems were so funny they made me laugh until my stomach hurt!”
“Wonderful! Awesome! I would rather read your poetry than eat twizzlers, and I LOVE twizzlers!"
"Energetic and fun with great classroom-tested lessons that are ready to use."
"Charley and Joanele saved our Family Literacy Night!"
"Thank you for coming to our school to share your love of writing and reading. It was good to hear Charley tell the boys that they can write and that no one has the right to tell them that they can't. I also want to thank you for the reminder that many of our outstanding authors are men."
"Enjoyed your visit to our library very much! Great interaction with the children."
